Jiuquan Steel's 7th Blast Furnace Gun Mud Test Evaluation Report
From May 7 to May 12, 2023, Zhengzhou Kexin Waterless Gun Mud was tested at the No. 7 Blast Furnace North Iron Mouth of the Ironmaking Plant at Jiugang Hongxing Co., Ltd.
From May 29 to June 10, 2023, Zhengzhou Kexin Waterless Mud was put to an expanded trial at No. 7 Blast Furnace in the Ironmaking Plant of Jiugang Hongxing Co., Ltd. A total of 32 tons of waterless mud were used during the trial. The test was conducted simultaneously at two tapping holes—south and north—of No. 7 Blast Furnace, resulting in a cumulative 99 iron tapping events and producing a total of 57,452.4 tons of molten iron. Here are the key findings from Zhengzhou Kexin's expanded trial of the waterless mud:
Quality Evaluation of Nansteel Water-Free Gun Clay

Zhengzhou Kexin Gun Mud Application Cases
To maintain the furnace hearth, ensure safe production, and improve the working condition of the tuyere, the ironmaking plant has specially introduced a new type of vanadium-titanium mud (produced by Zhengzhou Kexin) to address these challenges.
Zhengzhou Kexin Iron Mouth Repairing Gun Mud Application Case
Since its commissioning at the end of 2008, No. 3 blast furnace at Yanghan Yete Steel’s ironmaking plant has entered the later stage of its operational life. Currently, severe erosion of refractory materials has occurred in the furnace hearth sidewalls and around the tapping hole area, leading to minor gas leakage in localized sections of the western tapping channel. This has resulted in occasional spattering during initial tapping operations, significantly disrupting routine tap-hole maintenance and disrupting the normal rhythm of iron tapping. Moreover, it poses a serious risk to safe iron discharge from the furnace front. To address this issue, the ironmaking plant has requested Zhengzhou Kexin gunning material company to develop and produce a specialized tap-hole maintenance gunning mix tailored to the current conditions, with trials planned for implementation from early April to May 2018.
